Mia Sara praises Mark Hamill and Mike Flanagan after acting comeback

Mia Sara says returning to acting after a 10-year break was made even more memorable by working with Mark Hamill in The Life of Chuck.

Speaking on Peter Ferriero's Slice of Life Show podcast, the Ferris Bueller's Day Off actor described Hamill as "a dreamboat of a man" and said she enjoyed sharing the screen with him. In the 2025 film, based on Stephen King's novella and directed by Mike Flanagan, Sara plays Chuck's grandmother while Hamill plays his grandfather. Tom Hiddleston stars as the title character.

Sara said Flanagan was the main reason she returned to acting. After watching his series The Haunting of Hill House and Midnight Mass, she became a fan. She later met Flanagan and his wife, actor Kate Siegel, through her husband, Brian Henson. During dinner, Flanagan asked if she would consider acting again and later offered her a role, which she accepted.

Sara also said the production was "a very healing experience," praising Flanagan's leadership and his "no-a--hole policy," which she said created a positive atmosphere on set.

The film's 2025 Hollywood premiere marked Sara's first red carpet appearance in 14 years. While she is uncertain about taking on more acting roles, she said she would gladly work with Flanagan again.
