Rolling Stones singer Mick Jagger says his main job as a performer is to make sure people enjoy themselves at his concerts.

In an interview on The Interview podcast by The New York Times, the 82-year-old musician said he wants fans to forget about their daily problems for a few hours.

Jagger said people come to his concerts to have a good time and not think about work, money, or other worries. He compared a concert to a sports event, where people focus on the game and forget everything else.

He also said he does not want to give lectures or tell fans what to think during his shows. Instead, he wants them to leave feeling happy.

However, Jagger said he sometimes includes political or social messages in his songs. He explained that he mixes these ideas with songs about personal relationships because people usually do not want to listen to a song that is only about politics.

In May 2024, Jagger made headlines during a performance at the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival. He criticized Louisiana Governor Jeff Landry, saying the governor was "trying to take us back to the Stone Age."

Landry later responded on social media with a joke, saying, "The only person who might remember the Stone Age is Mick Jagger." He also said Jagger was always welcome in Louisiana.
