The source said Reiner, 32, became angry while waiting to be escorted back to his cell after showering. Deputies were delayed because they were responding to another inmate's apparent overdose elsewhere in the unit.
Reiner allegedly yelled, used profanity and refused to follow deputies' commands. Additional deputies responded, but the incident did not become physical.
He was issued a disciplinary write-up and lost phone, visitation and commissary privileges for five days.
Reiner is housed alone in a specialized medical observation unit, where inmates with significant mental health needs are kept under close supervision. He was previously placed on suicide watch but was removed from that status in January.
He has been jailed since December 2025 after being charged with the fatal stabbings of his parents, filmmaker Rob Reiner and producer-photographer Michele Singer Reiner. Reiner has pleaded not guilty to two counts of first-degree murder and remains in custody without bail.
His preliminary hearing is scheduled for Sept. 15, when prosecutors are expected to present evidence for a judge to determine whether the case should proceed to trial.
