Old Jared Leto ‘Joker’ Gifts Interview Resurfaces After New Allegations

Jared Leto has defended himself after renewed attention on his behaviour during the filming of Suicide Squad and fresh allegations of sexual misconduct.

A 2016 interview has resurfaced in which Leto said he sent unusual gifts, including used condoms and anal beads, to his Suicide Squad co-stars while preparing for his role as the Joker. He said the gifts were part of his method acting to create surprise and reflect the Joker's disregard for personal boundaries.

Co-stars reacted differently at the time. Margot Robbie said she became less surprised by Leto's behaviour as filming continued, while Will Smith said Leto had gone "full Joker" and remained fully committed to the character throughout production.

The resurfaced interview comes after the BBC reported new allegations of sexual misconduct against Leto by four women who said they were teenagers at the time of the alleged incidents. The claims are featured in the BBC documentary Jared Leto: Hollywood's Dark Secret. The allegations follow earlier claims made by nine women in an Air Mail report published in June 2025.

Leto has denied all the allegations. In a statement, he said the claims are "absolutely and categorically false" and added, "I have never sexually assaulted anyone in my entire life."
