Paul Wesley Admits He Was to Blame for On-Set Tension With Nina Dobrev

Paul Wesley says he was largely responsible for the tension between himself and Nina Dobrev during the early years of filming The Vampire Diaries.

Speaking on the Call Her Daddy podcast, Wesley admitted he was "intense" and "a bit of a pain in the ass" while taking his role as Stefan Salvatore very seriously. He said he and Dobrev often disagreed on set but remained professional and delivered strong on-screen chemistry.

Wesley said their relationship improved over time, especially during the show's sixth season. After Dobrev left the series in 2015, the two stayed in touch. When she returned for the series finale, Wesley realized he had missed working with her.

The former co-stars are now set to reunite in the upcoming film adaptation of You Deserve to Know, produced by Alex Cooper and her Unwell Network. Unlike in The Vampire Diaries, they will not play romantic partners.
