O'Donnell moved to Ireland in early 2025 with her 13-year-old child, Clay, after saying she was unhappy with the political situation in the United States. She said she sold her belongings before leaving but now hopes to have a home near her family while keeping Ireland as her main home.
She recently returned to New York to perform her one-woman show, Common Knowledge. Although she said New York still feels like home, she also finds it loud and sometimes stressful.
O'Donnell said becoming a grandmother again has made family even more important. She is currently spending time with relatives at the Jersey Shore and is looking forward to seeing her newest grandson, Anthony.
She said she enjoys living in Ireland because it is quieter, there is less focus on celebrities, and avoiding American news has helped improve her mental health. However, she said her long-term plans will depend on how she feels about the political climate in the United States.
