Ryan Gosling Cast as Ghost Rider in New Marvel Film

Ryan Gosling has officially joined the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Ghost Rider in a new film set for release in 2028.

Marvel Studios announced the casting during its San Diego Comic-Con panel on Saturday. Director Shawn Levy, who previously worked with Gosling on the upcoming Star Wars: Starfighter and directed Deadpool & Wolverine, will helm the film.

Speaking on stage, Gosling said Ghost Rider is a character he has wanted to play for a long time. Levy praised the actor and confirmed the pair would reunite for the project.

Ghost Rider is best known as Johnny Blaze, a motorcycle stunt performer with supernatural powers. Nicolas Cage previously played the character in two standalone films released in 2007 and 2011, which were not part of the MCU. Gabriel Luna later portrayed Robbie Reyes, another version of Ghost Rider, in Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.

Rumours about Gosling joining Marvel have circulated for several years. Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige previously said he wanted to find a role for the actor, and Gosling confirmed earlier this year that discussions had taken place. The new film marks his official MCU debut.
