Sara Foster Says David Foster and Katharine McPhee Are Happy After Years of Criticism

Sara Foster has spoken positively about her father David Foster's marriage to Katharine McPhee, saying the couple remain happy despite public criticism over their age difference.

Speaking on the Let's Be Honest with Kristin Cavallari podcast on June 30, Sara, 45, described McPhee, 42, as "really amazing" and said joining the Foster family is "not easy."

She acknowledged that David Foster, 76, and McPhee have faced criticism because of their ages but said the relationship has stood the test of time.

"They're like 12 years in, and they are happy," Sara said.

David Foster first met McPhee in 2006 when she competed on American Idol and he appeared as a guest mentor. Romance rumors surfaced in 2017, and the couple made their red carpet debut at the 2018 Met Gala. They married in London in 2019.

Sara also defended the relationship by noting that McPhee is "a fully consenting lady" in her 40s.

Discussing their family dynamic, Sara said she sees McPhee more as a sister than a mother because she is older than her stepmother. She added that McPhee has handled the role of stepmother with respect and has not tried to overstep boundaries.

Over the weekend, McPhee marked the couple's seventh wedding anniversary by sharing photos and videos from their 2019 wedding on Instagram Stories.
