Seth Rogen recalls awkward dinner conversation with Pharrell Williams

Seth Rogen says one of his most awkward dinner party moments involved musician and producer Pharrell Williams.

While promoting the new A24 film The Invite with co-star Olivia Wilde in an Entertainment Weekly "Lie vs. Lie" interview, Rogen recalled a conversation about their work on Disney's 2019 The Lion King.

Rogen, who voiced Pumbaa in the film, said he had previously joked in interviews that Williams became frustrated with his singing while producing the movie's soundtrack. At a dinner they both attended, Rogen said Williams told him he did not like that description.

According to Rogen, Williams responded by saying he did not like the suggestion that he felt frustration. Rogen replied that Williams appeared to be frustrated during the conversation itself.

Wilde noted that Williams may have wanted to avoid that image, given that one of his biggest hits is the song "Happy."

Rogen currently stars alongside Wilde, Edward Norton, and Penélope Cruz in The Invite. The film is playing in select theaters ahead of its wide release on July 10.
