Antiques Roadshow star Theo Burrell dies at 39 after brain cancer battle

Theo Burrell, a BBC Antiques Roadshow expert, has died at the age of 39 after living with glioblastoma, an aggressive form of brain cancer, for more than four years.

Her family announced that Burrell passed away on July 8, surrounded by her loved ones. They said her death came sooner than expected and praised her determination to raise awareness of brain cancer while cherishing milestones such as her recent wedding and her son's first day at school.

Diagnosed in 2022 after experiencing severe headaches, vision problems and other symptoms, Burrell underwent brain surgery, chemotherapy and additional treatments. She later became a patron of Brain Tumour Research and used her platform to advocate for patients and inspire hope.

Brain Tumour Research CEO Dan Knowles described Burrell as "phenomenal, determined and truly inspiring," praising her efforts to support others despite knowing her cancer was terminal.

Born in Edinburgh in 1986, Burrell joined Antiques Roadshow in 2018 after building a career at auction house Lyon & Turnbull, where she specialized in glass, ceramics and decorative arts.

She is survived by her husband, Alex, and their son.
