Hayden Panettiere, Tori Spelling Cancel California Horror Convention Appearances

Actors Hayden Panettiere and Tori Spelling canceled their scheduled appearances at the Creep I.E. Aftermath convention in Ontario, California, over the weekend due to separate emergencies.

Event organizers announced on Friday that Spelling would miss the event because of an unspecified emergency. A day later, they confirmed that Panettiere had also withdrawn due to an emergency.

A representative for Panettiere later told Entertainment Weekly that the actress canceled her appearance because of a private family matter involving the health of an elderly relative.

Panettiere had been expected to reunite with her Scream 4 co-star Nico Tortorella at the convention. She was replaced in the lineup by actress Dominique Swain, while Spelling was replaced by her Beverly Hills, 90210 co-star Brian Austin Green.

Several other celebrities also changed their convention plans. Christina Ricci, Jimmy Workman, John Carroll Lynch, and Carel Struycken postponed their appearances until the event's February edition, while Kevin Durand canceled his attendance.

The Creep I.E. Aftermath convention was held at the Ontario Convention Center from July 10 to July 12 and featured guests including Christopher Lloyd, Jamie Campbell Bower, Billy Boyd, Cheech and Chong, and Danny Trejo.
