Tom Holland says Spider-Man: Brand New Day is darker and more mature

Tom Holland has described Spider-Man: Brand New Day as a more mature and darker chapter in Peter Parker’s story.

Speaking at the Los Angeles premiere, Holland said the film explores themes that many young people can relate to, including moving to a new city, feeling alone, and failing to recognise the people who matter most.

The fourth Spider-Man film is directed by Destin Daniel Cretton and written by Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers. The cast includes Sadie Sink, Jacob Batalon, Jon Bernthal, Tramell Tillman, Michael Mando, and Mark Ruffalo.

According to the official synopsis, Peter Parker is fighting crime as Spider-Man in a world that no longer remembers him. As he struggles to watch his old friends move on, he undergoes a transformation while facing a dangerous new villain that no one can see.

Spider-Man: Brand New Day opens in cinemas on 31 July.
