Wil Wheaton Calls Dwayne Johnson a 'Coward' Over Political Silence

Actor Wil Wheaton criticized Dwayne Johnson after Johnson said he plans to keep his political views private.

Writing on Threads, Wheaton called Johnson "such a coward" in response to a post by actor George Takei discussing Johnson's recent comments in Esquire.

In the interview, Johnson said he wants to focus on filmmaking and avoid letting politics overshadow his work. He said he is willing to discuss political issues in private conversations but no longer wants to make public endorsements. Johnson also said he dislikes the hostility that often surrounds politics and believes people with different views should talk directly to each other instead of attacking one another publicly.

Johnson endorsed Joe Biden in the 2020 presidential election but later said he regretted making the endorsement because he believes it contributed to political division. Ahead of the 2024 election, he said he would not endorse a presidential candidate again.

Wheaton, who publicly supported Kamala Harris in the 2024 election and has been a frequent critic of President Donald Trump, disagreed with Johnson's decision to stay out of public political debates.
