Will Smith Could Be Drawn Into Jada Pinkett Smith’s Legal Battle

Will Smith may become involved in an ongoing lawsuit between his wife, Jada Pinkett Smith, and her former friend, Brother Bilaal (Bilaal Salaam).

Salaam sued Jada in December 2025, claiming she threatened him during an encounter at a California hotel in September 2021. He is seeking $3 million in damages. Jada has denied the allegations and has already won a court order requiring Salaam to pay nearly $33,000 in legal fees.

New court filings show that Salaam, who is representing himself, wants to question Will Smith under oath. However, Jada’s lawyers said Will is not part of the lawsuit and has not been served with a subpoena.

Jada’s legal team has also asked the court to order Salaam to provide recordings related to his claims and medical records supporting his request for emotional distress damages.

The legal dispute became more complicated in May when Will Smith’s ex-wife, Sheree Zampino, filed a separate $1 million lawsuit against Salaam. She claims he made false and defamatory statements about her during an interview on YouTube.

The next hearing in Jada Pinkett Smith’s case against Salaam is scheduled for Aug. 19. The court has denied Salaam’s request for a trial.
