Zoey Deutch and Nick Robinson reunite for Netflix hit Voicemails for Isabelle

Zoey Deutch and Nick Robinson say they wanted to work together for years before starring in Netflix's Voicemails for Isabelle. The two actors, both 31, knew each other through mutual friends while growing up in Los Angeles and stayed in touch over the years.

Deutch said she admired Robinson's quiet and thoughtful personality from their teenage years and always hoped they would share a project. Robinson previously said they had discussed other projects together, but none had worked out until now.

In Voicemails for Isabelle, Deutch plays Jill, a pastry chef who copes with the loss of her sister by leaving voicemails on her old phone number. The number is reassigned to Wes, played by Robinson, who listens to the messages and develops feelings for Jill before arranging what she believes is a chance meeting.

The romantic drama has become a major success, reaching No. 1 on Netflix after its mid-June release. Deutch said she had been determined to join the film for years, repeatedly asking her agent for updates after reading the script and keeping it at the top of a list of projects she hoped to make.

The film is one of three summer releases featuring Deutch. She also appears in the animated Minions & Monsters, now in theaters, and the comedy Gail Daughtry and the Celebrity Sex Pass, which opens in theaters on July 10. Deutch described her recent schedule as busy but said she is grateful for the opportunities.
