Chris Evans Embraces Fatherhood as He Prepares for Marvel Return

Chris Evans is settling into fatherhood and says becoming a dad has changed his priorities.

During a recent appearance at Boston’s Fan Expo, Evans said he and wife Alba Baptista now have a daughter, adding that he needs “a really good reason” to leave home for work. The couple welcomed their first child, Alma Grace Baptista Evans, in October 2025.

Evans and Baptista, who were first linked in 2022, married in 2023 in two ceremonies, one in Massachusetts and another in Portugal. Evans had previously said he hoped to become a father.

Although Evans has taken a quieter approach to his acting career, he will return as Steve Rogers in Avengers: Doomsday, which is scheduled for release Dec. 18.

Evans said he considered at least a dozen proposals to return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe over eight years before deciding the timing was right. Robert Downey Jr.’s return to Marvel as Doctor Doom also helped convince him to come back.

Still, Evans said he is not eager to make frequent appearances as Steve Rogers. “It’s a never-say-never,” he said, but added that the role has earned its place in the Marvel universe and should be treated carefully.
