Axl Rose Performs for 3 Hours After TMJ Procedure Despite Numbness

Guns N’ Roses frontman Axl Rose is continuing to perform after undergoing a procedure to treat temporomandibular joint disorder, or TMJ.

During a concert Wednesday at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey, the 64-year-old singer told fans that he had the procedure a few days earlier. He said the left side of his mouth was still numb and that the condition had made singing difficult.

Despite the discomfort, Rose performed with Guns N’ Roses for about three hours. The band is currently touring North America and is scheduled to perform in Australia, New Zealand and Singapore later this year.

TMJ can cause pain and discomfort in the jaw and surrounding muscles. It can be linked to teeth grinding, jaw clenching and other factors. Surgery or procedures are generally considered when other treatments do not resolve the problem.

Rose has continued performing through health problems in the past. In 2018, he told fans at a concert in Abu Dhabi that he had been sick and receiving IV treatment. He ultimately had to end that show early.

Several major artists have canceled tours or performances in 2026 because of health and other issues, including Dolly Parton, the Rolling Stones, Rod Stewart, Post Malone and Neil Young.
