Don Diamont Reveals the Turbulent Story Behind His Days of Our Lives Exit

Don Diamont has recalled the difficult start to his acting career during his brief run on Days of Our Lives in 1984.

Speaking on the Soapy podcast, Diamont said he was fired from the soap while also being named Best Newcomer in the same week. At the time, he was largely inexperienced, having worked mainly as a model before landing the role of Carlo Forenza.

Diamont said his relationship with executive producer Al Rabin quickly became strained. On his first day, Rabin criticized him after stopping a scene, telling him he needed more energy. Diamont admitted that he struggled with the experience and felt the producer was a poor coach.

Looking back, however, Diamont said the experience taught him an important lesson. He acknowledged that he needed to take acting more seriously and learn the demands of working on a soap opera.

His character, Carlo, was eventually killed off after being accidentally shot by Neil Curtis, played by Joseph Gallison. Despite his troubled stint on Days, Diamont's performance helped lead to his next major opportunity.

In 1985, he joined The Young and the Restless as Brad Carlton, a role he played for more than two decades. He later became a longtime cast member of The Bold and the Beautiful, where he has appeared for more than 17 years.
