Jimmy Kimmel and Molly McNearney Reveal Their Sweet, Secret ‘Meet-Cute’

Jimmy Kimmel and Molly McNearney have shared details about how their relationship began while working together on Jimmy Kimmel Live!

McNearney joined the show in 2004 and later became its co-head writer. She recalled telling coworkers that her five favorite foods were pizza, gnocchi, crab claws, BLTs and chocolate chip cookies.

About six months later, Kimmel invited her to his home after work and had prepared all five foods. McNearney said she immediately understood the gesture was romantic, but she was nervous because Kimmel was her boss.

The two kept their relationship private at first because McNearney worried it could affect her career and the writers' room. Eventually, they told their coworkers and married in July 2013.

The couple now have two children, Jane, 12, and Billy, 9. Kimmel also has two adult children from his previous marriage.

Speaking on Dax Shepard's Armchair Expert podcast, McNearney said she still jokes about Kimmel in the writers' room, although she sometimes finds herself "overcorrecting" because of their relationship.

McNearney said she came to see Kimmel as a caring person and a supportive boss. "I really love this guy," she said.
