In a statement released on Aug. 7, the company said Sophia is taking an extended period of rest following consultations with medical professionals. HYBE said her health, safety and long-term well-being remain its top priority and that it will continue to support her until she is ready to return. No further details about her condition were shared.
Sophia also addressed fans through Instagram, saying the decision was difficult but necessary. She thanked fans for their patience and support, adding that she plans to recover fully and return stronger.
Sophia's hiatus comes while fellow KATSEYE member Manon remains on a health-related break that began in February, with no timeline announced for her return.
Despite the absences, KATSEYE is preparing to release its EP Wild on Aug. 14 and is scheduled to begin a global tour in early September.
