Jesikah Suggs, ‘My Life With the Walter Boys’ Writer and Producer, Dies at 32

Television writer and producer Jesikah Suggs has died at 32 after an eight-year battle with breast cancer.

Suggs’ family confirmed that she died at her home in Studio City, California, on Aug. 18, Deadline reported. She was first diagnosed with breast cancer at age 24. Her cancer later spread, but she continued working throughout her treatment.

Suggs was a writer and producer on Netflix’s “My Life With the Walter Boys.” She worked as a story editor during the show’s first season and later became a co-producer for seasons 2 and 3. She had also begun working on writing for a potential fourth season.

Her other credits included “Parenthood,” “As We See It” and “It’s Not Like That.” “My Life With the Walter Boys” premiered in 2023, and its third season debuted Aug. 6.

In a statement, Suggs’ sister Liz said Jesikah continued to work despite her illness and did not want cancer to define her. She described her as someone who faced treatment with courage, a positive spirit and gratitude toward her healthcare workers.

Suggs, a Baylor University graduate, also shared parts of her cancer journey on social media. In 2018, during chemotherapy, she wrote about the support she received from friends and family and described their care as a blessing.

She is survived by her husband, actor Dustin Ingram, her mother, three sisters and a brother, as well as two nieces, a nephew and other family members. Her father, Jim Suggs, died previously.

A memorial service was held in Los Angeles on Aug. 22. Another service is scheduled for Aug. 29 in Grapevine, Texas.
