Kelly Osbourne Defends Ozzy Osbourne Against Dee Snider

Kelly Osbourne has publicly defended her late father, Ozzy Osbourne, after Twisted Sister frontman Dee Snider questioned the Black Sabbath singer’s songwriting contributions.

In a series of Instagram Stories, Kelly said her father’s nearly six-decade career and lasting influence speak for themselves. She accused Snider of attempting to diminish Ozzy’s legacy while he could no longer respond and argued that comparisons between their careers were unfavorable to Snider.

The dispute began after an X user referenced bassist Bob Daisley’s claims that he wrote much of the material on Ozzy’s early solo albums. Snider responded that Ozzy’s bassists had traditionally written his lyrics, citing Geezer Butler’s role in Black Sabbath and Daisley’s contributions to Ozzy’s solo work.

Daisley has long claimed that he wrote most of the lyrics on Ozzy’s first five solo albums. His songwriting credits became the subject of legal disputes, including a successful lawsuit with drummer Lee Kerslake over Diary of a Madman. Daisley also disputed his lack of credits on Bark at the Moon and The Ultimate Sin.

Kelly rejected Snider’s criticism, arguing that Ozzy’s influence extends far beyond questions of individual songwriting credits. She concluded that her father did not need Snider’s approval to secure his place in music history and accused the singer of using the controversy to regain public attention.
