Lorde Pauses Lollapalooza Set to Help Fans Affected by Heat

Lorde paused her headline performance at Lollapalooza in Chicago several times on Thursday after multiple fans became ill in the high temperatures.

During one interruption, the singer alerted security after spotting someone in need of medical help near the front of the crowd. She waited for first responders to reach the fan before continuing the show.

Reports said Lorde stopped her performance at least three times as concertgoers struggled with the heat. Early in the set, she acknowledged the conditions, telling the audience, "You look hot from up here."

Despite the delays, Lorde performed popular songs including Royals, Green Light, Supercut and Ribs. She also surprised fans by bringing out Charli XCX to perform their collaboration, Girl, So Confusing.

The performance marked Lorde's return to Lollapalooza, where she previously appeared in 2014 and 2017. The four-day festival in Chicago's Grant Park continues through Sunday with performances from Charli XCX, The Smashing Pumpkins, Jennie, Tate McRae, The xx and others.
