Marvel Unveils Star-Studded Cast for New X-Men Movie

Marvel Studios has revealed the first major cast members for its upcoming X-Men movie, marking the mutant team’s official arrival in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Sadie Sink will play Jean Grey, with Kit Connor as Cyclops, Samara Weaving as Emma Frost, Christopher Abbott as Professor Xavier, Adam Driver as Mr. Sinister, Maya Boyd as Storm, and Inde Navarrette as Rogue.

Sink’s casting as Jean Grey was previously revealed in Spider-Man: Brand New Day. Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige has said that the events of that film will help lead into the new X-Men story.

Jake Schreier, director of Thunderbolts, will direct the film. Lee Sung Jin and Joanna Calo are writing the screenplay. The movie will follow mutants, people born with an X-gene that gives them extraordinary abilities. Professor Xavier will lead the X-Men as they protect mutants who face fear and discrimination.

The new film follows several projects that have introduced Fox’s former X-Men characters into the MCU, including Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness and Deadpool & Wolverine. The upcoming Avengers: Doomsday will feature returning stars from the earlier X-Men films, including Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen, James Marsden, Rebecca Romijn and Alan Cumming.

Marvel has said that Avengers: Doomsday will help set up Avengers: Secret Wars, which is expected to usher in a new era for mutants and the X-Men.
