Molly Ringwald Says One ‘Difficult’ Co-Star Ruined Her Experience on The Secret Life of the American Teenager

Molly Ringwald didn’t mince words when ranking her past projects during an appearance on Watch What Happens Live. Asked to rate her work, the actress placed ABC Family’s The Secret Life of the American Teenager at the bottom of the list, saying one “really difficult” person on set soured the experience.

“I love the cast. I love Shailene Woodley,” Ringwald said, adding that a single unnamed individual “brought it down to a one.” Ringwald played Anne Juergens, the mother of Woodley’s character Amy, throughout the show’s five-season run from 2008 to 2013.

By contrast, Ringwald gave Pretty in Pink a perfect 10, praising the John Hughes-written film and recalling that it was created specifically for her. She also revealed she was once set to reunite with Hughes and Matthew Broderick for an unmade project titled Oil and Vinegar, which was ultimately shelved.
