Neil Perry Accuses Sister Kimberly of Pushing Him Out of The Band Perry

Former The Band Perry member Neil Perry has accused his sister, Kimberly Perry, of pushing him out of the group after he objected to her plan to have her husband, Johnny Costello, join the band.

In an Instagram post Wednesday, Neil said the dispute began after the band’s 2023 hiatus. He said Kimberly initially discussed returning without their brother Reid, but later wanted Costello to join. Neil said he supported either continuing as a duo or holding auditions, but opposed adding Costello.

Neil said Reid later decided to return, but he was given three days to decide whether he would continue. He said he was ultimately told he was out of time and was terminated weeks later, “the day after my birthday.”

Neil said he accepted that touring with the group was no longer realistic but objected to losing his financial interest and access to the band’s business and resources.

Reid left the group in October 2025 to pursue work as a talent manager. Kimberly and Costello have since continued performing and releasing music under The Band Perry name.

Kimberly has said her brothers supported her decision and that there would always be a place for them if they wanted to tour. In an interview with Bobby Bones, she said the lineup changes were not strategically planned and that she simply missed performing with family.

Neil disputed that account, saying the situation involved “instability and broken trust” and that the public story did not match his experience.

The Band Perry formed in Tennessee in 2005 and became widely known for its 2010 hit “If I Die Young,” which won a Grammy for best country duo/group performance.
