Paris Jackson Opens Up About Calling Off Engagement: “I Have to Be Happy”

Paris Jackson has opened up about her decision to end her engagement to music producer Justin Long, saying the choice was necessary for her happiness.

Speaking on the “Call Her Daddy” podcast, Jackson said she had tried several times to end the relationship but kept wondering whether things might improve if she stayed longer. She said people close to her helped her examine the relationship, but she eventually realized her needs were not being met.

“Just because someone is a good person doesn’t mean they’re my person,” Jackson said. She added that major relationship needs should not be treated as negotiable simply because a partner is loyal or kind.

Jackson and Long became engaged in December 2024 after about two years of dating. She confirmed their breakup in July 2025.

The 28-year-old also revealed that this was her second engagement to end. She said her first engagement was complicated by drug use and financial issues, but that her feelings at the time were genuine.

Jackson did not reveal details about her current love life, saying only, “I’m happy.”
