During an episode of Call Her Daddy released Aug. 12, Jackson said she first asked about Rowe when she was around 10 or 11. She later connected with Rowe at about 15 and became closer to her toward the end of her teenage years.
Jackson, 28, said their first meeting was simple and relaxed. She recalled seeing Rowe in the living room with her grandmother, Katherine Jackson, greeting her with “Hey, Mom,” and then spending the day together.
Jackson said their relationship has taught her the value of having no expectations when entering a relationship. She believes that approaching people without assumptions can give relationships room to develop naturally.
Rowe, 67, married Michael Jackson in 1996 after working as an assistant at his dermatologist’s office. She and Jackson had two children, Prince and Paris, before divorcing in 2000. Rowe gave Michael Jackson full custody of the children.
Paris and Rowe began rebuilding their relationship during Paris’ teenage years. Their bond grew stronger over time, including during Rowe’s treatment for breast cancer. In 2016, Rowe called Paris her “rock” and praised her support during treatment.
The two have continued to share moments together publicly. In February, Jackson posted photos of herself with Rowe on Instagram Stories, including pictures of them smiling and cuddling outdoors.
