Perez Hilton Remains Seriously Ill After Mental Health Crisis, Family Says

Perez Hilton remains hospitalized in Florida after a serious mental health crisis earlier this week, according to his family.

In an update posted Saturday, Aug. 8, his family said Hilton is in serious but stable condition and remains hospitalized under Florida’s Baker Act for a mental health evaluation. They said he suffered significant blood loss and other injuries that will require surgery in the coming days.

His family said Hilton’s communication is currently limited to family, medical providers and others involved in his care. They also denied reports that he had made public statements about his condition.

The family asked the media and public to respect their privacy, particularly regarding Hilton’s three children. They said the children are safe and being cared for by relatives.

Authorities were called to Hilton’s Miami home on Aug. 4 following reports of a suicide attempt. His family said his children, niece and sister had left the home after realizing he was experiencing a severe mental health crisis and harming himself.

The family said Hilton’s recovery will be a long process and thanked the public for its support and compassion.
