Reese Witherspoon’s Father Returns Home After Two-Night Hospital Stay Following Fall

Reese Witherspoon’s father, Dr. John Witherspoon, has returned home after spending two nights in the hospital following a fall, according to Page Six.

The 84-year-old retired doctor was found face down on the concrete near the pool at his Nashville condominium on Friday. A resident alerted the building’s doorman, who found Witherspoon responsive and called for medical help. He was then taken to a hospital.

Witherspoon was released Sunday, and his family has said he is doing well. Reese Witherspoon confirmed the incident on Friday, thanking the doctors, nurses and others who had supported her family.

John and his wife, Mary Elizabeth “Betty” Witherspoon, raised Reese and her two brothers in Nashville. The retired otolaryngologist is known by residents of his condominium for his lively personality and distinctive style, often wearing shorts and cowboy boots.

Nashville Metro confirmed that a medical incident occurred at the building but did not identify the person involved.
