Sabrina Carpenter Pays Tribute to Dolly Parton After Her Death at 80

Sabrina Carpenter is mourning the death of Dolly Parton, calling the country music legend “an angel walking the earth.”

Carpenter shared photos of herself with Parton on social media Tuesday after Parton died at age 80 following a brief battle with cancer. The singers had worked together on a remix of Carpenter’s 2024 hit “Please Please Please.”

“I will cherish our laughter and conversations,” Carpenter wrote, adding that she would carry Parton’s wisdom, humor and outlook on life with her. She also praised Parton’s voice, songs and “singular magic.”

The two singers became close after their collaboration. Before recording the song, Parton asked Carpenter not to use profanity or references that mocked Jesus or God. Carpenter changed one lyric from “I beg you, don’t embarrass me, motherf---er” to “I beg you, don’t embarrass me like the others.”

Parton later praised Carpenter, saying they sounded much alike. Carpenter also recalled being surprised by Parton’s height and praised her vocal performance.

Carpenter ended her tribute by writing, “I will always love you.”
