Saoirse Ronan Wants to Play a Female Villain in the James Bond Franchise

Saoirse Ronan says she is serious about wanting to play a villain in the James Bond franchise.

In a new interview with Empire, the Oscar-nominated actress said she would like to take on a darker role in the series. “I want to go dark,” Ronan said. “I said that I wanted to be a Bond villain and I’m dead serious.”

Ronan said she would especially like to play a young female villain who channels her anger into something powerful. She believes such a character could offer an interesting story for women and girls.

This is not the first time Ronan has expressed interest in the role. In 2024, she told Vanity Fair that she would continue to campaign for a Bond villain part, saying she enjoys playing characters who are “a little bit evil.”

Ronan also said she would like to see a female Bond villain whose goal is to defeat 007 rather than fall in love with him.

Meanwhile, the search for the next James Bond is continuing, with auditions reportedly taking place this month. The actor who will replace Daniel Craig has not yet been announced.
