In an Instagram post on Aug. 28, Kelley said she had been diagnosed with “breakthrough drug-induced mania with psychosis.” She attributed the episode to a combination of stress, past trauma, hormonal changes, hallucinogens and prescribed medication.
Kelley apologized to Scott and their three children for her behavior during the crisis. She said that accusations and statements she made online were not based in reality and caused her family significant harm.
“I am so sorry,” Kelley wrote. “My husband of twenty years was taken through a nightmare.”
Scott responded to the post with five heart emojis, offering a public sign of support.
The couple announced their separation in June 2025 after 21 years of marriage. Kelley was later placed under an involuntary 5150 psychiatric hold. Scott was temporarily granted sole physical and legal custody of their children and obtained a temporary restraining order against Kelley, which was lifted in July.
Kelley was also arrested in August 2025 and charged with alleged online harassment and doxxing involving friends and family members.
Scott later said that he had spoken publicly because Kelley had made what he described as “deeply disturbing and entirely false allegations” against him. He said the situation had been traumatic for their children.
In her recent post, Kelley said she regrets her actions and remains focused on recovery. She thanked Scott for helping her get treatment and said she is grateful for the support shown to her and her family.
Scott previously said in March that Kelley had reunited with their three children, Jackson, 17, Miller, 13, and Lucy, 12, describing the family reunion as “healing.” He said that despite everything that happened, he loves his family and believes that their love for one another is what matters most.
