Simon Cowell to Miss America’s Got Talent for Weeks After Back Surgery

Simon Cowell will miss several weeks of America’s Got Talent while he recovers from routine back surgery, according to his representative.

“Medical matters are private, but it’s routine and he will be back in a few weeks,” the representative told Entertainment Weekly.

Cowell, 66, is a judge on the NBC talent competition alongside Howie Mandel, Sofía Vergara and Mel B. Terry Crews hosts the show.

The surgery comes after Cowell suffered serious back injuries in a 2020 electric-bike accident at his home in Malibu. He underwent a six-hour spinal fusion surgery and later said he suffered long-term nerve damage.

Cowell also broke his arm in another e-bike accident in London in 2022. Despite his injuries, he said in 2023 that he planned to continue riding bikes.

His latest recovery is expected to keep him away from AGT for several weeks.
