Hostin will become the first major public figure to work with the company on developing and producing films while allowing her digital likeness to appear in them. Fountain 0 says its technology can lower production costs and allow filmmakers to create high-quality projects with fewer budget limits.
Hostin said she is excited about using AI to bring her novels, including Summer on Highland Beach, to film and television. She also hopes the technology will help create more stories about diverse communities that she believes Hollywood has often overlooked.
The deal comes as some of Hostin's View cohosts have publicly questioned the growing use of AI in entertainment. Whoopi Goldberg has criticized pressure on people to embrace AI and has said she does not want her likeness used to create a hologram after her death.
Fountain 0 also plans to work with other celebrities and influencers, using their recognizable likenesses to help promote and appear in future productions.
