TikTok Creator Sydney Towle Dies at 26 After Battle With Rare Cancer

TikTok creator Sydney Towle has died at the age of 26 following a years-long battle with cholangiocarcinoma, a rare and aggressive bile duct cancer. Her family announced her death on Thursday, Aug. 6, a day after she passed away.

"We will always love you so much Sydney," a message shared on her social media accounts read. "I am so proud of how hard you fought. I love you." The post described her as "an endless ray of sunshine" and celebrated her as a beloved daughter, sister and friend.

Just one day before the announcement, Towle's older brother, Austin, revealed that she had entered hospice care, sharing a photo of family and friends gathered around her hospital bed.

Diagnosed at just 23, Towle documented her cancer journey with more than one million TikTok followers. She underwent multiple surgeries, chemotherapy treatments and clinical trials, openly sharing the physical and emotional realities of living with the disease.

Earlier this year, Towle revealed that her cancer had spread to the lining of her abdomen and pelvis. She also shared that an oncologist had recommended end-of-life care, prompting her to seek treatment from another specialist while continuing a clinical trial involving tumor-infiltrating lymphocyte (TIL) therapy.

Despite her declining health, Towle remained determined to inspire others. In May, she walked the runway at Miami Swim Week, modeling swimwear designed for cancer survivors and embracing the scars left by her treatment.

Throughout her journey, Towle used her platform to raise awareness about cholangiocarcinoma, a cancer that primarily affects adults over 50 and is rarely diagnosed in young people. She often said that hearing from people who found hope through her story gave her strength and purpose.
