Tate McRae and Jack Hughes Split After Brief Romance

Tate McRae and New Jersey Devils center Jack Hughes have ended their relationship, Page Six reports, bringing an apparent end to a romance that had only recently become public.

Sources offered conflicting accounts of who initiated the breakup. One source claimed Hughes ended things after noticing “red flags” and has already begun dating other people. Sources close to McRae, however, said the singer was the one who called it quits.

The pair first sparked dating rumors last year after being spotted together in New York City. McRae was seen supporting Hughes at Devils games, while the two were reportedly spotted looking flirtatious during a dinner at Anton’s in the West Village.

Hughes was reportedly the one who first pursued McRae, sliding into her DMs. By March, Us Weekly reported that the two had been casually dating since late 2025 and were exclusively seeing each other.

The split comes amid renewed speculation surrounding McRae’s political views. Questions intensified after Hughes and other Team USA hockey players received a congratulatory call from President Donald Trump following their Olympic gold-medal win in February.

Asked by Variety about speculation that she supports MAGA, McRae said she prefers to express her views through the organizations she supports and the causes reflected in her work. She pointed to donations from her tour benefiting LGBTQ youth nonprofit the Trevor Project and the Global Fund for Women.

McRae was also honored Wednesday with Variety’s Triple Threat Award at its Power of Young Hollywood event.
