Tim McGraw Laughs Off Onstage Fall During Cincinnati Concert

Country music star Tim McGraw took an unexpected tumble during his concert in Cincinnati on Friday night, but he was quick to turn the moment into a joke.

The 59-year-old singer shared a video of the fall on Instagram on Aug. 28, showing how the heel of his cowboy boot became caught in the stage flooring while he was moving around.

McGraw suddenly tipped backward, flailing his arms before landing on his backside. He never let go of his microphone and quickly got back on his feet with a smile.

“Cincinnati, you started our weekend off on the right foot even if I couldn’t stay on mine,” McGraw joked in the caption. “We appreciate you coming out and singing along! Detroit, you’re up!”

The video was included as the fifth slide in a carousel that otherwise featured photos of McGraw performing for the Cincinnati crowd. He also added a playful voiceover to the fall: “Yup, that’s me. You’re probably wondering how I ended up in this situation.”

The singer reportedly arrived about 45 minutes late to the concert at Riverbend Music Center, according to The Cincinnati Enquirer.

Fans had mixed reactions to the fall. Some expressed concern about McGraw’s health, with one commenting, “Hope your back’s OK,” while another joked that he should be wrapped in bubble wrap for his next show.

Others found the moment funny. One fan joked that McGraw’s three daughters had probably “blown up the family group chat” after seeing their dad fall.

McGraw and his wife, fellow country star Faith Hill, have three daughters: Gracie, 29, Maggie, 28, and Audrey, 24. Audrey reacted to her father’s post with a series of laughing and crying emojis.

McGraw has often spoken proudly about his daughters. In 2021, he told PEOPLE that watching them become independent was inspiring and said he was grateful that they had grown into strong, grounded young women.

He also said in 2023 that he would love to record a song with Hill and all three of their daughters someday, although his daughters have jokingly told him they are not interested in singing with their dad.

After his Cincinnati performance, McGraw is scheduled to perform Saturday, Aug. 29, at the Acrisure Amphitheater in Grand Rapids, Michigan.
