Andrew Garfield Says He Hasn’t Yet Watched Tom Holland’s Latest Films

Andrew Garfield says he has not yet contacted Tom Holland about the success of his latest films, Spider-Man: Brand New Day and The Odyssey, because he has not seen either movie.

Speaking to Variety at the premiere of his new film The Uprising in West Hollywood, Garfield said he plans to reach out to Holland after watching his work.

“I don’t want to be disingenuous,” Garfield said. “A movie making money and people going to see it is an incredible thing, but I will reach out to him once I’ve seen [Spider-Man].”

Garfield, who played Spider-Man in two films and returned to the role in Spider-Man: No Way Home, said he understands why the character continues to connect with audiences.

“Everyone has ownership over him, he’s everybody’s,” Garfield said. “It’s impossible not to see yourself in that character.”

Garfield also denied that he will appear in the upcoming Marvel film Avengers: Doomsday. When asked directly if he was involved, he replied, “I’m not.”

However, Garfield acknowledged that fans may remain skeptical because he previously denied appearing in No Way Home before his return was revealed.

Garfield currently stars in Paul Greengrass’s The Uprising, playing a fictional leader who emerges during a rebellion against King Richard II in 1831. Greengrass said Garfield performed many of his own stunts during the film’s fight scenes.

Garfield joked about the physical demands of the production, saying, “I’m not a young guy anymore. It was a lot of ice packs on the knees.”
