Angie Katsanevas Breaks Her Silence on Separation From Husband Shawn

“Real Housewives of Salt Lake City” star Angie Katsanevas is opening up about her separation from her longtime husband, Shawn Trujillo, and what their relationship looks like now.

Katsanevas, 52, confirmed that fans will see the couple’s relationship struggles unfold during the upcoming seventh season of the Bravo reality show.

“There are some separations” this season, Katsanevas told Page Six’s “Virtual Reali-Tea,” adding that viewers will “watch it all play out” when the new episodes premiere.

The news comes after multiple sources reported in July that Katsanevas and Trujillo, 55, had separated following nearly three decades of marriage. The couple married in 1999 and share a 15-year-old daughter, Elekra. They also continue to run their business, Lunatic Fringe Salon, together.

Still family and business partners

Despite ending their romantic relationship, Katsanevas made it clear that Trujillo remains an important part of her life.

“Shawn and I are business partners, we’re family, we’re husband and wife of 30 years, we’re best friends,” she said.

She added that they remain committed to being loving parents and will continue to work through their future together.

“We talk a lot about the process this season on the show, and what the future looks like for us,” Katsanevas said.

Katsanevas also said their daughter is doing well and continues to receive plenty of support from both parents.

“Nothing has changed for her,” she said. “We’re very present, loving parents.”

According to Katsanevas, Elekra feels loved and supported as the family adjusts to the changes.

Tension with her RHOSLC castmates

While Katsanevas said Heather Gay and Mary Cosby have supported her during the difficult period, she was less pleased with Lisa Barlow and Meredith Marks.

After Katsanevas’ separation became public, Barlow shared a romantic photo with her husband, John Barlow. Marks also posted a cryptic message on Threads about the “irony in karma.”

The posts sparked speculation among fans that the women were making comments about their co-stars’ relationship troubles.

Katsanevas described the timing of the posts as “poor” and “heartless.”

“When children and families are involved, that’s really nothing to make a post about,” she said, arguing that castmates should show more support when someone is going through a difficult time.

“I think there’s a time and a place; I think it’s important to support your castmates when they’re down,” she added.

Katsanevas said she has not heard from either Barlow or Marks since her separation became public.

Meanwhile, fans will get a closer look at the situation when the new season begins.

“Real Housewives of Salt Lake City” returns Wednesday, Sept. 16, at 9 p.m. ET on Bravo. New episodes will be available to stream the following day on Peacock.
