Carmen Electra Returns to Her Playboy and Scary Movie Roots

Carmen Electra is revisiting two of the biggest chapters of her career in 2026.

The actress, model, singer and former Pussycat Dolls dancer has returned to Playboy for its Summer 2026 issue, marking 30 years since she first appeared in the magazine. She has also reunited with the Wayans brothers for the upcoming sixth Scary Movie film.

Electra has become one of Playboy's most recognizable cover stars. By her own estimate, she has appeared on more than 150 covers of international and regional editions of the magazine over the years.

For her latest appearance, Electra was photographed in a Playboy Bunny-inspired outfit while attending the West Hollywood club The Abbey. She chose a leopard-print Roberto Cavalli costume from several options presented to her.

“I’m kind of collecting bunny costumes at this point,” Electra joked.

Getting the costume to fit, however, was no easy task. A seamstress reportedly spent much of the day adjusting the outfit, repeatedly taking it off and putting it back on until it was tight enough.

Electra said the corset-style costume was so restrictive that breathing became difficult.

“When you’re actually wearing the costume, you cannot breathe,” she said. “They don’t want you to breathe.”

For the shoot, Electra also wore a shredded minidress with a studded bra, a long-sleeved mesh top with lace details and a sheer fishnet bodysuit.

Back in the Scary Movie franchise

Electra's 2026 comeback extends beyond Playboy. She is also returning to the Scary Movie franchise.

She first appeared in the original 2000 film, which became a major worldwide hit, and later returned for Scary Movie 4. Now she is back for the sixth movie in the series, which marks the Wayans brothers' return to creative control of the franchise.

Electra appears in the opening scene as a bartender serving an increasingly frustrated Teyana Taylor.

For Electra, reuniting with Marlon and Shawn Wayans was a highlight of the experience.

“To just be with the Wayans again” was “amazing,” she said.

She recalled that even while making Scary Movie 4, she often talked about missing the original creators.

“I kept saying, ‘I really miss the Wayans.’ I think the Wayans are the best,” she said.

Looking back at the first Scary Movie, Electra remembers having no idea how successful it would become. The film topped the worldwide box office, and the cast traveled across Europe to promote it.

“For me, it was the first time being in a movie at number one, and it was such a fun, good feeling,” she recalled.

Electra believes the Wayans brothers have a special ability to push comedy further than expected.

“They just have that touch, I like to call it the Wayans Touch,” she said. “They’re just funny, and they’re edgy, and they go the extra mile, and that’s what makes it so great.”

A career coming full circle

Between her return to Playboy and her reunion with the Wayans, 2026 has given Electra a chance to revisit some of the projects and people that helped shape her career.

Three decades after her first Playboy appearance and more than 25 years after the original Scary Movie, Electra is embracing the nostalgia while continuing to make new memories.

For the longtime performer, it is a return to familiar territory — but one that still feels exciting.
