Eggers died Thursday, September 3, at a hospital in Georgia after suffering acute liver failure. Her death was announced by friends on social media and later confirmed to TMZ by her mother, Monica Eggers.
Fans first came to know Eggers during Season 2 of Love After Lockup, which aired in 2019. The show followed her relationship with a man while she was serving time in prison for drug trafficking. She was engaged to him at the time, but their relationship ended after she was released from prison.
A Long Battle With Health Problems
Eggers had faced serious health problems for more than a year.
In the spring of 2025, she was hospitalized with severe pneumonia that developed into sepsis and multiple organ failure. Her condition became so serious that she was placed on life support.
Her sister, Erin, later created a GoFundMe campaign to help with Eggers’ medical expenses. After eventually leaving the intensive care unit, Eggers underwent physical therapy to regain her strength and learn to walk again.
According to friends, Eggers continued to deal with major health challenges after returning home. Earlier this year, she also suffered what friends described as a mini-stroke.
Her Final Hospitalization
Eggers was admitted to a Georgia hospital on Tuesday, September 1, after developing liver failure. She remained hospitalized for two days before her death.
In a tribute shared on Instagram, her friends said doctors did everything they could to save her.
“Amber was admitted to the hospital on Tuesday Sept 1st with liver failure. The doctors did everything they could, but in the end, her body just couldn’t keep fighting,” they wrote.
They described Eggers as someone who had fought through years of difficult health problems.
“And if you knew Amber, you know she is a fighter,” the post continued.
Her friends also remembered how she had survived her severe illness in 2025 and eventually made it home after being on life support.
Remembered by Fans and Cast
Eggers’ friends said she will be deeply missed by the people who knew her, as well as by Love After Lockup viewers and cast members.
“Love After Lockup viewers and cast alike love Amber very much,” they wrote. “We laughed with her, worried about her, and cheered her on through everything she faced.”
They ended their tribute with a heartfelt message to Eggers: “Thank you for being you, Amber. You are going to be missed. ❤️”
Eggers’ death marks a heartbreaking end to a long and difficult health journey for a reality TV personality remembered by many Love After Lockup fans for her openness about her life and relationships.
