Nicole Kidman Wants to Try Jennifer Aniston’s Famous ‘Midnight Margaritas’

Nicole Kidman has one request for Jennifer Aniston: an invitation to try her famous margaritas.

Kidman and Sandra Bullock recently opened up about the cocktail while promoting their upcoming film Practical Magic 2. The actresses, who return as witchy sisters Sally and Gillian Owens in the sequel to the 1998 classic, took part in a PEOPLE questionnaire when Kidman asked Bullock about her favorite margarita recipe.

Bullock admitted she does not make margaritas herself, but said one of her girlfriends makes a particularly strong version.

“I don’t do it, but a girlfriend of mine makes a very potent fresh one,” Bullock said.

Kidman quickly wanted to know who the mystery friend was.

“Which one? Which girlfriend?” she asked.

“Jen,” Bullock replied, referring to Aniston.

“I knew it!” Kidman exclaimed.

Bullock explained that although she has been friends with Aniston for many years, she does not know exactly what goes into the actress’s margaritas. However, she knows they are strong.

“I don’t know what she does,” Bullock said. “She has a heavy pour.”

She went on to describe Aniston’s drinks as fresh, frothy and dangerously easy to underestimate.

“She uses fresh limes, and she has a way to do it where it’s frothy, it’s so good and it will knock you on your ass,” Bullock said.

Bullock added that she has personally learned that lesson more than once.

“Anytime I have suffered, it’s been at her hands, but it’s so good,” she joked.

That was enough for Kidman to make a direct appeal to Aniston.

“Jen, you got to invite me over,” she said, looking toward the camera.

“Okay Jen, you got to share that one,” Kidman added later.

Bullock and Aniston’s Longtime Friendship

Bullock and Aniston have been close friends for more than 15 years. The two first bonded at a mutual friend’s wedding, at a time when Bullock said women in Hollywood were often encouraged to compete rather than support one another.

“We were from that time in the business where no one wanted the ladies to be friends — it was about pitting everyone against each other,” Bullock previously told Vanity Fair.

She recalled that they were essentially told not to become friends, but ignored the advice.

“We were just like, ‘Oh my God, we need to meet and cut loose,’” Bullock said. “And we did.”

Their friendship has clearly lasted — and Aniston’s margaritas appear to have played a memorable role.

Kidman also has a long history with Aniston. The two starred together in the 2011 romantic comedy Just Go With It, and have remained friends over the years.

What’s Actually in Aniston’s Margarita?

While Bullock may not know Aniston’s exact technique, Aniston has previously shared the basics of her margarita recipe.

In an interview with InStyle, as reported by Today, Aniston said she prefers a simple, less-sweet version of the classic cocktail.

“No sugar, no mixes, no agave. I don’t like sweet drinks,” she said.

Her recipe is surprisingly straightforward: silver tequila and fresh lime juice, shaken and served over ice. She also said that some people like adding Cointreau, while others prefer to leave it out.

Add Aniston’s famously generous pour, according to Bullock, and the result sounds like a margarita with a serious kick.

For now, Kidman will have to wait for her invitation.

Practical Magic 2, starring Kidman and Bullock, arrives in theaters on Sept. 10.
