Pete Davidson and Colin Jost Turn Their Staten Island Ferry Into a Floating Comedy Club

Pete Davidson and Colin Jost are finally putting their unusual $280,100 investment to use.

The Saturday Night Live stars bought a decommissioned Staten Island Ferry in 2022, but the project has moved slowly. Now, they are transforming the vessel into a one-night-only floating comedy club.

On Thursday, September 17, the ferry, the John F. Kennedy, will become the “Snapple Island Ferry” at Pier 17 in Lower Manhattan. The free event, sponsored by Snapple, will feature a 60-minute comedy show with sets from a lineup of rising comedians.

“Turning the ferry into a floating comedy club with Snapple makes more sense than anything else we considered and it still doesn’t make much sense,” Davidson said in a statement. “Either way, we’re giving people a chance to take a break, have a laugh and do something completely ridiculous with us.”

A limited number of free tickets will be released daily at 3 p.m. EST from September 3 through September 8 at register.snappleislandferry.com. The comedy lineup will be announced through Snapple’s social media channels ahead of the event.

Davidson and Jost have frequently joked about the ferry since purchasing it. Davidson has described the investment as a financial burden, while Jost has poked fun at the vessel by comparing it to the RMS Lusitania.

The comedians initially discussed turning the ferry into a restaurant and event space, but plans have progressed slowly. Davidson has also said the pair were “very stoned” when they bought the boat at auction, a claim Jost has denied, saying he was “stone-cold sober.”

Jost’s wife, Scarlett Johansson, has even suggested selling the ferry for scrap metal. Despite the setbacks, Davidson and Jost have continued looking for ways to make the unusual purchase work.
