Sandra Bullock Says ‘Practical Magic 3’ Could Happen

Sandra Bullock says a third Practical Magic movie could be possible if the upcoming sequel becomes a success.

“If this takes off, we’ll do a number three, and we’ll pass the torch to the girls,” Bullock, 62, told Vanity Fair in an interview published Sept. 3. She was referring to Joey King and Maisie Williams, who play the next generation of Owens witches.

Practical Magic 2, set to hit theaters Sept. 10, reunites Bullock and Nicole Kidman as sisters Sally and Gillian Owens. Stockard Channing and Dianne Wiest also return as their witchy aunts.

The sequel introduces King and Williams as young women who have inherited the Owens family’s magical abilities. They are unaware of their powers and the family curse that has long made romantic relationships difficult for Owens women.

Directed by Susanne Bier, the film is co-written by original screenwriter Akiva Goldsman and Succession writer Georgia Pritchett. Bullock and Kidman are also among the film’s producers.

Bullock said the sequel includes nostalgic references to the 1998 original while expanding the story with a new generation of witches.

Williams has also embraced the connection to Bullock’s character, recreating several of Bullock’s vintage red-carpet looks from the 1990s and early 2000s.

If Practical Magic 2 performs well, Bullock’s comments suggest the franchise could continue with King and Williams taking a larger role in a potential third film.
