Christopher died early Friday, Sept. 4, surrounded by family, according to his daughter, Nixi Parkinson Nicks. She announced his death on Instagram and said her father had been diagnosed with cancer about two and a half years ago.
“Second star to the right, and straight on till morning,” Nixi wrote alongside a photo of herself holding her father’s hand. “I love you, daddy. Rest easy. 🕊️”
Nixi later shared more details about her father’s final years in an Instagram Stories post. She explained that Christopher had chosen to keep his illness private because he did not want people to worry about him.
“Some of you may know that he has spent the last 2.5 years battling a cancer diagnosis, and to some this may come as a shock,” she wrote, according to Parade.
“If this is news to you, please know it was because he never wanted people to worry about him that he kept this to himself,” she added.
Christopher was the younger brother of Stevie Nicks, who is 78. He was also a father and grandfather, and his daughter remembered him as someone who made a lasting impression on many people.
“I know that he has left his mark on so many people,” Nixi wrote. She added that her father’s friends, whom he affectionately called his “lost boys,” meant a great deal to him.
“Rest easy, Coach. We will see you in Neverland,” she wrote.
Nixi also shared a photo on Saturday, Sept. 5, showing Christopher holding one of her two children. She accompanied the image with a broken-heart emoji.
Stevie Nicks has not yet publicly commented on her brother’s death.
