Gwen Stefani and Blake Shelton Mourn the Loss of Beloved Dog Betty

Gwen Stefani and Blake Shelton are mourning the death of Betty, their beloved dog who had been part of their family for 18 years.

Stefani, 56, shared the sad news on Instagram on Saturday, Sept. 5. She posted a touching video filled with photos and clips of Betty throughout the years, set to Stefani and Shelton’s hit duet “Nobody But You.”

“It’s with the heaviest hearts that we share our sweet Betty has gone to heaven 💔🕊️🐾,” Stefani wrote.

The video shows Betty spending time with Stefani, Shelton, and Stefani’s three sons, Kingston, Zuma and Apollo. It also includes moments from Betty’s appearances on television and a cameo in the couple’s “Nobody But You” music video.

Betty was also a familiar presence at Shelton’s ranch in Tishomingo, Oklahoma.

“She made us all smile for 18 years … we’re going to miss her forever,” Stefani wrote. “Thank you Betty for all the love and joy you brought into our lives.”

Although Stefani and Shelton do not frequently share pictures of their pets, Betty remained an important part of their family. The couple are also pet parents to a dog named Ginger and a cat named Corn Shelton, whom they adopted as a kitten in 2024 after he showed up at their home.

Betty made one of her final appearances on Stefani’s Instagram just two weeks ago, when Stefani joined Shelton at one of his concerts. In the post, Betty could be seen relaxing with Stefani in the singer’s trailer before the show, wearing a small handkerchief around her neck and resting in her dog bed.

Shelton and Stefani had previously spoken about how much they loved Betty. In a 2020 interview with CMT, Shelton explained that Betty was originally his dog before he and Stefani became a couple.

But Betty quickly grew close to Stefani.

“She gets jealous,” Shelton joked at the time. “She’s Gwen’s dog now, and so that’s where the jealousy comes in.”

Stefani responded warmly, saying, “She loves both of her parents very much.”

Stefani and Shelton met while working as coaches on The Voice in 2014 and married on July 3, 2021. Over the years, Betty became part of their shared family life and a familiar companion during their relationship.

Now, after nearly two decades, the couple are saying goodbye to a pet who brought them countless happy memories.

Betty may be gone, but Stefani’s tribute makes clear that her place in the family will never be forgotten.
