Bill Pullman and son Lewis reunite for Spaceballs sequel

Bill Pullman will return as Prince Lone Starr in Spaceballs: The New One, joined by his son, Lewis Pullman, who will play Lone Starr and Princess Vespa’s son, Prince Starburst.

Speaking at San Diego Comic-Con, Lewis said he was initially reluctant to take the role because he did not want to follow in his father’s footsteps. However, after reading the script with Bill, he changed his mind, calling it “one of the funniest scripts I’ve ever read.”

Lewis said he realised he would regret turning down the chance to work with his father on the sequel.

The film also stars Keke Palmer as Starburst’s adviser, Destiny, and Josh Gad as a Mawg, the same species as Barf from the original 1987 film. Returning cast members include Rick Moranis as Lord Dark Helmet, Daphne Zuniga as Princess Vespa, and Mel Brooks as President Skroob and Yogurt.

Although Bill Pullman did not attend Comic-Con in person, he sent a humorous video message and letter that joked about family before finally reminding Lewis to repay his mother for a mobile phone bill.

Spaceballs: The New One is scheduled for release in cinemas on 23 April 2027.
