D4vd Murder Hearing Reveals Messages Discussing Pregnancy

A Los Angeles court heard text messages on Friday that prosecutors say show singer D4vd, whose real name is David Anthony Burke, discussing a pregnancy and abortion with 13-year-old Celeste Rivas Hernandez during an alleged relationship.

The messages, presented during Burke's preliminary hearing, included a January 2024 exchange in which Rivas wrote, "Both of us aren't able to take care of it," referring to a pregnancy. Burke replied, "I know but still."

Detective Corey Farell testified that Burke and Rivas exchanged messages about abortion, birth control, Plan B and their relationship. Investigators also said they found images and photos on Burke's phone that are part of the prosecution's case.

Prosecutors allege Burke first contacted Rivas in August 2022 when she was 11 and that the relationship became sexual in late 2023, when she was 13 and he was 18.

The court also heard messages from March 2025 in which Rivas said she wanted to end the relationship in person, writing that "all we do is have sex and hang out" and that she wanted more for herself.

Burke is charged with murdering Rivas on 23 April 2025, a day after prosecutors say the pair argued over his relationships with other women. He has pleaded not guilty.

A medical examiner testified that Rivas died from two injuries but said her condition made it impossible to determine the type of weapon used or the exact time of death. Her remains were found in Burke's Tesla in September 2025 after the vehicle was impounded.

Prosecutors also allege Burke attempted to conceal evidence using items purchased before his arrest. The preliminary hearing is continuing.
