Jennifer Finch, L7 Bassist, Dies at 59

Jennifer Finch, bassist, vocalist and songwriter for the rock band L7, has died at the age of 59 after battling an aggressive form of brain cancer.

L7 announced her death in a heartfelt statement, calling Finch a beloved bandmate, friend and a "true original" whose creativity and spirit helped shape the band.

Earlier this year, L7 revealed that Finch had been diagnosed with brain cancer and would not join the band's farewell tour because she needed extensive medical treatment and rehabilitation following multiple surgeries.

A founding member of L7's classic lineup, Finch helped define the band's powerful mix of punk, grunge, metal and alternative rock. The Los Angeles band rose to fame in the early 1990s with songs including "Pretend We're Dead," "Shove," "Andres," and "Fuel My Fire." Their 1992 album Bricks Are Heavy became one of the band's best-known releases.

Outside of music, Finch was also a photographer, writer and visual artist.

L7 thanked fans for their support during Finch's illness, saying the kindness shown to her and her caregivers meant more than words could express.
